The carving on the crest rail of a cherry side chair provided inspiration for these sterling silver earrings. The chair, which dates from around 1775, has been attributed to Edmund Dickinson, a master of the Williamsburg cabinet shop established by Anthony Hay around 1756.  Hand-cast and hand-finished, these stunning earrings were hand-cast and hand-finished in Virginia. 3/8"dia. Recommend cleaning and touch up with a silver polishing cloth. Made in Virginia.
The decorative element known as the anthemion originally derived from Greek architecture. It is thought to represent a formalized rendering of the honeysuckle flower. The Greek anthemion was a decorative element commonly used during the neoclassical style period of the late 18th century.
Clean with silver polishing cloth.
