This elegant blue and white porcelain toile dish is so beautiful to go just about anywhere around your home. With a scalloped rim, it's perfect for the powder room, dresser, coffee table, or end table or with your dining accessories. The blue and white dish is patterned with a classic toile design.
The toile pattern on this porcelain plate is inspired by buildings in Colonial Williamsburg's Historic Area. Toile, which dates to 1760 France, quickly became all the rage in to 18th-century Europe and the colonies. It was most commonly found in red and used in bed coverings at first, and later expanded to other colors (such as blue and sepia) and parts of the home. Though toile is actually a fabric, strictly speaking, the illustration style commonly associated with it can be found on a variety of decorative accessories today.
