Dressed in a traditional blue-and-white print skirt, this colonial ship captain's wife holds items that represent her husband's travels between Europe and the New World, and through all the ports in between. For hundreds of years, the shipping industry drove Virginia's economy and kept it closely connected with England's. Merchant ships would have loaded tobacco hogsheads for export and unloaded such treasures as silk and toile, fine Chinese porcelain, and exotic tropical fruit. The captain's wife welcomes her guests with a pineapple shipped from the Caribbean and a hot drink poured from a fine china coffeepot.

Made in Pennsylvania, each Byers' Choice® figure is lovingly hand-detailed and dressed in period-inspired clothing. A wonderful Colonial Williamsburg memento! (For decorative use only; not meant to be used as a doll or toy.)
As Virginia's colonial capital, Williamsburg was a crucible where people from different backgrounds shaped and were shaped by their encounters with one another. Those encounters helped forge our American values and eventually our very identity. From tavern keepers to artisans, gentry to slaves, politicians to plebeians, colonists in an array of apparel could be seen interacting during the hustle and bustle of town life. These hand-made figures capture the many ordinary and extraordinary activities that filled their days.
