An adorably plump chickadee rests on a holly branch against a gold background and red border in this sweet holiday card. 16 cards and envelopes included. 4" x 5". Inside reads "Season's Greetings."
The 18th century was a time of great exploration and discovery. Naturalists from Europe traveled throughout the New World discovering flora and fauna unknown in their home countries and documented their findings through illustrations and written records. Nestled among the greenery, cardinals and chickadees were encountered here and are still found in Colonial Williamsburg’s Historic Area today. One of the most abundant birds at feeders during the winters, the Carolina Chickadee is a common permanent resident of the southeastern United States woodlands. About five inches long, this diminutive bird is a dull gray all over and has a black cap and throat. S the Carolina chickadee moves through the woods, often in the company of other birds grouped in small flocks, it continuously utters the distinctive call note, chick-a- dee-dee-dee-dee.
