This colorful  pattern is an interpretation of an English delft plate made in Bristol, England, circa 1730. The peacock is copied from a multicolored fragment unearthed in Williamsburg during archeological excavations. Peacock plates in the Colonial Williamsburg collection provided the added documentation needed to copy the complete design accurately. Dishwasher and microwave safe. Chowning's Tavern Teaot holds 18 1/2 oz.. Use caution with hot liquids.
Tavernware is based on period delft designs that have been interpreted for modern dinnerware. Plates take the form and shape of delft plates of the period while hollowares, such as teacups and teapots, have been adapted for modern requirements. Tavernware is decorated with elements from eighteenth-century patterns and is used in the taverns operating today in the Historic Area of Williamsburg.
