With textural exuberance tempered by quiet color, creamware has created memorable table settings for centuries. This Creamware Pierced Teapot with Lid, like many of the antique examples in Colonial Williamsburg's collections, are made in Leeds, England. The lacy piercings are individually cut with simple metal tools as used in the 18th century.  Hand wash. 5 3/8" H, holds 16 oz.

The cutwork motif of this creamware piece recalls 18th-century creamware found throughout Colonial Williamsburg's antique ceramics collections. Creamware, reflects the natural emphasis of rococo period design. highly fashionable in the mid-18th century, remains so in the early 21st. Hand Made in England through Hartley Greens & Co. Leeds Pottery, established 1781.
