About 1770, the Duke of Gloucester, William Henry, commissioned a dinner service which reflected his passionate interest in the natural world. The resulting pattern is an impressive manifestation of rococo style, complete with 19 exuberant colors, gilt feathering and a brilliant turquoise rim.
A platter from the original service, now in the collections of Colonial Williamsburg, served as the inspiration for this exquisite reproduction. It took over two years to complete the process in matching the vibrant colors and hand-painted feel of the antique.
