Handmade in Virginia! Secret scene inside every cottage! This hand-assembled miniature building is a detailed replica of the structure Wythe House in the Historic Area of Colonial Williamsburg. Finely detailed both inside and out. With a bulb inserted in the hole on the bottom of the house, the inside is lighted to reveal details of the building's interior. Made from cabinet-grade birch. This building comes with a string to be hung as an ornament, and can be lit by inserting a standard Christmas tree light bulb into the hole on the building's underside. The string can be removed to display as a lighted house. The large stand, sold separately, will elevate the house and light from underneath with a tea light. Tea lights sold separately. 6"L x 7"W x 2 1/4"H.
The George Wythe House on Palace Green belonged to George Wythe (pronounced “with”), a leader of the patriot movement in Virginia, a delegate to the Continental Congress, and Virginia’s first signer of the Declaration of Independence. The house also served as General George Washington's headquarters just before the British siege of Yorktown, and French General Rochambeau made the home his headquarters after victory at Yorktown. In 1776, the house accommodated Virginia General Assembly delegate Thomas Jefferson and his family.
