Inspired by an antique "hogscraper" candlestick in the collections, this candlestick holds one pillar candle and features gold ring detail on the shaft. 10"H.
Although the wealthy could indulge in ornamental forms of lighting, there was widespread demand for utilitarian lighting devices such as this "hogscraper" candlestick. Today antiques collectors also refer to these as wedding ring candlesticks because the band on the stick looks like a wedding ring. This particular candlestick was interpreted from one made of iron, tin and brass in England between 1765 and 1820.
