Share your passion for Williamsburg when you send New Year's greetings to friends and family this year. Rows of colorful Hotch Potch characters spell out Happy New Year in a design inspired by a delightful Hotch Potch image in the museum collections of Colonial Williamsburg. Inside, the card reads "Warm wishes for a very Happy New Year." Set of 16 boxed notecards and envelopes arrive gift wrapped in red paper with gold stamped detailing. Hotch Potch first appeared in 1782 as a hand-tinted print showing the jovial characters contorted (quite instructively, we might add) into the letters of the alphabet. As was typical at the time, J and U are omitted most people used I and V instead. In London and colonial America, Hotch Potch quickly gained popularity as a way to teach children the alphabet.
