Create ambiance and fill the air with the scent of these pure natural beeswax taper candles — a reminder of the simple pleasures we enjoy today that would have been pure extravagance in the 18th century. In colonial times, candles were a necessity for every household. The most commonly used tallow candles burned quickly, gave out a dim light, and had a grim odor. Not only did beeswax candles smell sweet, they also burned cleaner and longer than tallow candles, and gave out a brighter light. Unfortunately, they were a luxury only the very wealthy could afford, because beeswax was expensive. Today while the sweet scent and the warm glow feel just as luxurious, the candles themselves are just the right kind of indulgence. Sold as a pair. Three sizes. 8"H, 10"H, 12"H. 7/8" diameter.

Clean and long burning

by

How can there be no reviews for these candles? I have been buying natural beeswax tapers from Colonial Williamsburg for at least 30 years (they used to be available in a box of 12). I love the warmth of the pale amber color, and the tapers burn very long and very clean--very little dripping. Mine sit in pewter candle holders that were a gift (also from CW) many years ago.
