Alexander Hamilton is best known as the United States’ first Secretary of the Treasury and the author of the majority of The Federalist Papers, a series of essays that outlined the basic concepts and premises of the U.S. Constitution. Alexander Hamilton was an influential member of the Founding Fathers. He was the first Secretary of the Treasury, and envisioned a strong central government. He died in New York City in 1804 after a duel with Aaron Burr.
