Mirrors, called looking glasses in the eighteenth century, were not utilized solely for reflecting one's own image. Before the advent of electric light, looking glasses offered other practical uses as well.  On a cloudy day or a winter afternoon, a large looking glass placed opposite a window could brighten a room considerably by reflecting back the daylight.  At times, looking glasses were also used the multiply the effect of candlelight at night.
Dust with soft cloth. Spray cleaner only on cloth to clean mirror.
