This handsome mahogany cabinet could work in the kitchen to store dried herbs and spices, or it could hold jewelry, papers, or keys. Records indicate that colonial Americans used small locking cabinets such as these for more than just spices, though the name remained, and likely indicated its initial purpose. Crafted of mahogany, this interpretive spice cabinet features a locking door that opens to reveal two shelves inside. The top pediment and bracket feet are classic features of colonial cabinetry. The original spice box was first owned by Katherine Brooke (1770-1851) and believed to have been crafted in rural Virginia. Her descendants presented the box to The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation in 1968. Mahogany wood. 17 3/4"L x 11 3/4"W x 18 3/4"H. Imported.  MSRP: $395
