One of the Historic Area's most memorable buildings. At the Capitol, the General Assembly debated and framed legislation and the courts dispensed justice. The Capitol list pad is the perfect size for your fridge or file cabinet to remember your last visit to Williamsburg. It also makes a great item for gift baskets or gift giving! 2 3/4" x 9 3/4"
For 80 years, Williamsburg was the political center of Virginia, one of England's largest, wealthiest, and most populous colonies. Here laws and justice were made and administered on behalf of all colonial Virginians. At the Capitol, the General Assembly debated and framed legislation and the courts dispensed justice. When the capital moved to Richmond in 1780, the vacant brick mansion was put to use by American forces as a hospital following the siege of Yorktown. Just before Christmas in 1781, a fire broke out, burning the magnificent building to the ground. The reconstructed building, authentically refurbished and interpreted, has welcomed visitors since 1934.
