“Tobacco leaf” is a Chinese porcelain pattern that became popular in Europe in the late-18th to early-19th century. Porcelain services with this decoration were among the costliest when first exported to the West. This particular collection is based on an antique piece preserved in New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art.
