Ayscough site operates as one of Colonial Williamsburg's trade complexes exhibiting gunsmithing as an example of the scope of industry in eighteenth-century Virginia. The site operated as the exhibition site for the Cabinetmaker from 1937 until 1965, and was changed to the Gunsmith shop in 1966. The house and outbuildings were renamed for Charles Ayscough who had a house and tavern on the site in the 1760s and 1770s.
