Old Stitch beer is crafted using 18th century recipes and ingredients that come as close to what was available during the time period as possible. The brew was developed at a Williamsburg-area microbrewery using the expertise of the Colonial Williamsburg's Historic Foodways Staff. Visitors can watch the 18th-century beer making process in programs offered in the Historic Area. The beer is also served in Colonial Williamsburg's taverns.
At Chowning's, Christiana Campbell's, King's Arms, and Shields taverns, guests enjoy dining experiences similar to those of patrons who frequented these establishments in the years leading up to the American Revolution. Colonial Williamsburg's taverns are located in the heart of the Historic Area and are open to the public. Although inspired by 18th-century recipes, today's menu reflects the culinary tastes and methods 21st-century diners prefer. Guests are immersed in the complete tavern dining experience, making them part of the story with music, games and lively interaction with costumed interpreters.
