Product Care
This maple fife does not require a break-in period. The bore of the maple fife, intended for the new casual player, has a sealed finish bore to reduce the need for maintenance (oiling the bore) when the fife is new. There is no harm, however, in oiling the bore at any time, and cleaning the bore after playing is always desirable.
To clean the bore, wrap a lint-free cloth around a rod or dowel. Any wood dowel less than 1/2" diameter from the hardware store would work. Gently pass the dowel up and down through the bore, turning it as you go to touch the sides of the bore. Be very careful not to dislodge the cork from its position near the mouth hole.
To oil the bore, use the same cloth-on-a-dowel system, but add just a few drops of oil to the cloth. We recommend food-grade light mineral oil.

Professional Use of the fife
As this is a wooden fife and needs to be "broken in", there were not any comments on humidity or build-up of moisture. What is the CARE of this fife? Thank you.
