Inspiration
A sterling silver mustard pot in our collection provided the inspiration for these openwork earrings. The mustard pot was made in London by John Neville and is marked with the date 1770/71. Typical of 18th-century mustard pots, the antique container is a cylindrical cup made of blue glass and supported by a decorative sterling frame. The openwork and fluid curves in the frame panels are characteristic of the rococo style, which dominated the decorative arts of the mid- to late-18th century.
