Inspiration
This Charles Robb Chalkware Santa is proudly adapted by Vaillancourt folk art from a white pine sculpture credited to Charles Robb (1855-1904) in the collection of the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Folk Art Museum at Colonial Williamsburg (object #1961.705.1). For more than 40 years, Santa’s kindly grin greeted a Lutheran congregation in New York City—Robb’s hometown. His pack held programs, sermons, and notices of interest.
