Supplies
Painted shells and fabric

Prepare the Shells

1. Collect or purchase oyster shells and clean thoroughly. Allow to dry.

At this point, you may want to grab your Wreath Form and try arranging the shells on top to make sure you have enough shells.

2. Paint the inside of each shell with white acrylic paint. Allow to dry.

TIP: Be sure to include smaller shells to fill in the gaps between larger shells. You can also use plain shells to fill in the gaps for a different look.

Prepare the Fabric

1. You will need 1 yard of fabric to make the 18" wreath.

2. Cut fabric into approximately 2"x3" or 3"x4" pieces depending on shell size. Allow yourself a little extra fabric for deep shells. Think about how you would like to position the motifs and flowers inside the shells before cutting out your rectangles.

You do not need to pre-wash your fabric for this project.

Decorate the Shells

1. Apply Mod Podge Satin to the inside of the shells you prepared. Work each fabric swatch into the shells. Allow to dry.

(TIP: You may want to do this a few shells at a time to avoid your Mod Podge drying out.)

2. Once all your shells are dry, trim the fabric to the edge of the shell.

3. Apply Mod Podge Gloss as a top coat. Allow to Dry.

4. Use the gold paint to add a "gold leaf" look to the edge. Allow to Dry.

5. Apply shells to the wreath form with Gorilla Craft Glue or E6000 Craft Adhesive. Press down on each shell and hold for about 10-15 seconds.

6. Once all shells have been glued to the wreath, allow the wreath to dry overnight before hanging your wreath.

We hope Tamera's wreath inspires you to create your own masterpiece with Colonial Williamsburg Reproduction Fabrics!
