In 1693 a royal charter and generous endowment were granted for the establishment of a college and construction of The College of William and Mary was undertaken at Middle Plantation, a small village later renamed Williamsburg in honor of the king.

I have a William & Mary trivet from Williamsburg and it is made
<br>well! The brass still looks great and I have had mine for a few years. This makes a stately gift! Or one to be proud of in your own home! I recently used mine @ Thanksgiving!
