Our sophisticated matelassé design is based on an antique coverlet from Colonial Williamsburg's textile collections. The original was made in Portugal during the late 17th century and features mythological flora and fauna motifs separated by columned arches. These patterns are characteristic of decorative arts from the late baroque period, roughly concurrent with the reign of England's monarchs William and Mary.

I wish that still made the colored bedspreads. I have the light blue, sprout green, mustard yellow, chocolate brown, navy and several bone colored ones.
Wish these spreads were the heavy duty, better quality they used to be
I would purchase the coverlet again.
Lovely. I have these bedspreads on all my beds and have loved them for years.
I have used William and Mary bedding on all of the beds in our historic home. The bone color serves to set the tone of a traditional look in the bedroom and allows me to introduce different colors as accents throughout the year as pillows of a second coverlet folded at the end of the bed.
good quality, efficient ransaction
Not as heavy as one purchased about 10 years ago, but still great quality
The bedspread is lighter than one purchased several years ago but still great quality
