Product Description
This is an accurate reproduction of a Revolutionary War steer horn powder horn. Powder horns held coarser powder that was used in the barrels of the guns. Steer horns, rather than metal containers, were used to hold powder because of the fear of sparks. Perfect for history buffs, reenactors, or historical décor.

- Horn is approximately 13" in length - shapes, sizes and colors will vary because these are genuine steer horns
- Hollow inside

- Great for history buffs, reenactors, historical décor
- Made in India
Inspiration
In the 18th century, each member of the “colonial militia” was required to show up with his own gun, a pound of shot, and a horn filled with black powder. Young men generally personalized their powder horns with engravings. Eighteenth-century examples often bear the owner’s name, commemorative dates, and all kinds of illustrations.
