Inspiration
The tradition of lighting a single candle in every window is credited to Colonial Williamsburg. Although it is not historically accurate for 18th-century Williamsburg, it was chosen as a way to decorate the Historic Area when it opened for the first Christmas celebration in 1936. With the availability of electric candles, the practice quickly gained popularity in communities across the country, and is still prevalent today.

Colonial Candles
Bought 3 candles to replace any of the 14 I have for my windows, in case my current supply breaks or fails for any reason. I purchased the original 14 in Colonial Williamsburg and discovered they are hard to find elsewhere. Nothing looks as nice in your home’s windows as these candles, especially at Christmas and during winter snow.

Brushed Nickel Chamber Candlestick
We have previously purchased these candlesticks for our front windows. We received so many compliments, that we needed to put them in additional windows!
