Soap made from olive oil was considered the mildest and finest soap during the colonial period. Our exclusive peppermint soap is triple-milled vegetable soap enriched with peppermint oil and, just as it was in the 18th century, virgin olive oil. The formula's cocoa and shea butters keep your hands feeling soft. A treat for your skin and your nose!

Ingredients

Made with a vegetable soap base with added shea butter, cocoa butter, olive oil, grapeseed oil and fragrance. No animal products are used in this soap.

Inspiration

Soaps were occasionally made at home in the eighteenth-century by boiling lime-ash and fat products over an outdoor fire. However, those who could afford them preferred the finer imported soaps available from local merchants. Imported soaps were generally scented and colored.

Soap could be purchased by the ball or the bar. Bars were formed by cooling the hot soap mixture in a large rectangular mold and then cutting the block into individual bars. Round wash balls were shaped by hand.
