This throw pillow is inspired by the Chinoiserie style, which European manufacturers developed as a lower-cost export for the American colonies. The designs were roughly copied from more refined and delicate originals from China. Numerous examples of Chinoiserie are on display at the Art Museums of Colonial Williamsburg.
