Inspiration
The Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) saw an extraordinary period of innovation in ceramic manufacturing. Kilns investigated new techniques in design and shapes, showing a fondness for color and painted design, exploring new forms. In addition to these decorative innovations, the late Ming period saw a dramatic shift towards a market economy, with porcelain being exported around the world on an unprecedented scale. The kilns became the main production center for large-scale porcelain exports to Europe. Chinese-exported wares, especially porcelain, were prominent sources of home décor in 18th-century America. It was around this time that chinoiserie entered the Western design vocabulary.
Blue and white pottery is as popular today as it was centuries ago, adding timeless elegance to your home.
