Inspiration
Exquisite 18th-century holiday decorations are the hallmark of the holiday season at Colonial Williamsburg. The streets are lined with houses and shops decorated with colorful wreaths and garlands of fresh greens embellished with fruits, berries, dried pods, and cones. Inside, the mantels, stairways, windows, and tables are decorated for the holidays with the same natural materials. The tradition of elaborate natural decorations was started by Abby Aldrich Rockefeller around the time of the restoration and is still enjoyed by visitors today.
