Inspiration
In the 18th century, a comical gent called Hotch Potch jovially cavorted into the letters of the alphabet, and became an entertaining and instructive way to teach the alphabet to children of the day. The original hand-tinted print, The Comical Hotch Potch, or the Alphabet turn'd Posture Master, was first published in London in 1782 by Carington Bowles. An original copy of the print is held in the collections of The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation.
