Product Description
This exclusive “Moon Phase” Moonstone Necklace is inspired by the beautifully detailed moon phase dial of a historic clock in the collections of The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation. At its center, a paste-glass “moon face” cabochon, made of moonstone, is framed by small white crystal stones arranged in the sweeping curve of a waxing crescent moon. The sterling silver pendant features gold-plated accents and intricate craftsmanship, including star-shaped vents on the back and sides. The chain pairs silver links with round white glass pearls that evoke stars scattered across the night sky, and a single gold-plated silver star adorns the top of the pendant drop. A stunning, wearable piece of history, this necklace is a truly unique gift available only at The Shops at Colonial Williamsburg.

Inspiration
Our Moon Phase Jewelry Collection is inspired by an 18th-century clock, dated to 1770, in the collections of The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation (Object #1980-111,A). The clock’s face is signed “James Craig, Williamsburg”—the only known clock movement labeled by an artisan working in Williamsburg or its surrounding region. Although the movement itself was likely made in England, it was retailed through Craig’s shop, where colonial silversmiths commonly offered imported British goods. The stylized moon with a human face, featured on this clock, also appears on several other tall clocks in our collections.
