Inspiration
Our Moon Phase Jewelry Collection takes inspiration from a clock dated to 1770 in the collections of The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation (Object # 1980-111,A). The clock is signed on the face "James Craig, Williamsburg." It is the only known clock movement labeled by an artisan in Williamsburg or the surrounding area and was most likely an English movement retailed through Craig's shop. Colonial silversmiths commonly sold British imports in their shops. The moon depicted with a face can be seen on several other tall clocks in our collections.
