This Pink Chinoiserie Ginger Jar is a re-interpretation of the classic blue-and-white chinoiserie style popular in the 18th century, rendered in trendy pink colors! This ginger jar features a classic pattern of a climbing vine with birds. The decorative jar measures 11.75 inches tall and 7 inches in diameter, with a 4.5-inch diameter opening. Display it alone or remove the lid to display tall flower stems. We love white floral stems or a magnolia branch as a balance to the vibrant pink. Made of water-sealed clay. Imported. Pair it with the matching vase also sold in our shop.
Inspiration
This vase features a classic design inspired by the Chinoiserie style, which European manufacturers developed as a lower-cost export for the American colonies. The designs were roughly copied from more refined and delicate originals from China. Numerous examples of Chinoiserie are on display at the Art Museums of Colonial Williamsburg.
