Product Description
Create your very own historically inspired garden with this packet of Snapdragon Seeds. Snapdragons grow easily from seed which should be started after the danger of frost has passed in the spring. The plants are prolific self-seeders so much so that Joseph Breck thought his plants were perennials. Snapdragons require full sun and prefer well drained soil.
Planting Instructions
FULL SUN – Plants grow easily from seed, but seed can take a very long time to germinate (up to 3 weeks). Seed can be sown in the spring once the danger of frost has passed. When planning in the spring, keep the soil slightly moist until germination. For continuous blooms, succession planting (planting seed every 7-14 days) is recommended. When seedlings are 2” high, thin, leaving 8”-10” between plants. Snagdragons are prolific self-seeders, so don’t be surprised if you find volunteer plants the following spring.

Inspiration
Eighteenth-century Williamsburg was the home of many ardent gardeners and plant collectors who often exchanged seeds with fellow enthusiasts in Great Britain. Gardeners obtained their seeds from store merchants or from traveling seedsmen. Today, the Colonial Williamsburg seed program continues the tradition by offering many varieties grown in the 18th century.
Native to the Mediterranean region, snapdragons came to America sometime in the 1600s. They are among the most popular of garden plants because of their incredible colors (red, yellow, pink, white, orange, purple, rust, etc.) their long lasting blooms and the fact that if they are trimmed back to 6 inches after their initial bloom, they will often re-bloom in the fall.
