This Spiced Vanilla Pear Shrub Cocktail Mixer by Tait Farm Foods is made with lots of sweet, ripe Bartlett pears that are infused in vinegar, sweetened with organic cane sugar and then delicately spiced with cardamom, cinnamon, cloves & vanilla. Made in small batches in Pennsylvania, simply add shrub syrup to your favorite spirits for a colonial-inspired cocktail, to soda or sparkling water for a non-alcoholic option, or in sauces and dressings for added depth of flavor.

Inspiration
Shrubs were made in the 18th century from fresh fruit and sugar, left to ferment into vinegar. After fermentation, more sugar was added to the mixture, providing a tart, sweet, and refreshing syrup that could be enjoyed in cocktails, desserts, and sauces.

Shrub Party Pitcher
A Shrub Party Pitcher offers the spirit of celebration for the entire family. Think of it as a modern-day punch bowl in a pitcher, served beautifully with ice, fruit, and the garnish of your choice.
INGREDIENTS:

Tait Farm Shrub (flavor of your choice)
- 1 liter of Sparkling Water ((33.8oz)
- Ginger ale or lemon-lime soda, if desired
- Ice & fresh fruit garnish
- For a spirited adult beverage, omit the ginger ale or soda, add a bottle prosecco or white wine instead (Riesling or Sauvignon Blanc recommended).
- Mix 6oz of Shrub with 1 liter bottle of chilled Sparkling Water into a pitcher. (that is a 1 oz. Shrub to 5-6 oz. sparkling water ratio)
- Add ice, as desired.
If you want a sweeter tasting pitcher, you may substitute a portion of the sparkling water with ginger ale or lemon-lime soda. Start with a small amount and add more as needed so it isn't too sweet.
Holiday White Sangria
- 1 C. Tait Farm Spiced Vanilla Pear Shrub
- 1 bottle white wine
- fresh winter fruit: sliced pears, apples, oranges, cranberries
- Ice
- 1 liter chilled sparkling water
Slice orange and insert a clove into each wedge. In a pitcher, combine shrub, wine, orange, and cinnamon sticks. Allow to infuse at least an hour, (best if made a day ahead). Just before serving, add ice and sparkling water. Garnish with cranberries.
