Inspiration

A wool embroidered table or cupboard cloth dated to 1650-1675 in the Colonial Williamsburg archives (object #1936-664) inspired the design of this WILLIAMSBURG Vintage Vinyl Floorcloth by Spicher & Co. The cloth features an all-over repeating pattern of circular coiling stems enclosing four stylized flowers with wavy tendrils and graceful leaves with turned-over edges. Reciprocal undulating vines decorate stems and form the inside edge of the border composed of scalloped-edge flower palmettes. See the original in our digital collections.
