Product DescriptionOn any given day in Colonial Williamsburg's Historic Area, you'll see three-cornered hats on visitors as well as interpreters. In the 18th-century, the hats were often "cocked" so a gentleman could show his wig. Some accounts note that the sides became cocked when military men would hold their hat under their arm, thereby folding the sides up. Eventually gentlemen started folding the sides up on purpose. The man's hat is solid black without trim along the edges, and tends to be on the small side in the small-extra large spectrum. 100% wool. Men's Cocked Black Hat comes in four sizes.
