Inspiration
Eighteenth-century inhabitants of Williamsburg occasionally made their own soap by boiling lime-ash and fat products over an outdoor fire. However, those who could afford them preferred the finer imported soaps available from local merchants. Imported soaps were generally scented and colored. Some were even stamped with decorative emblems or trademarks, which signified that the soap was the highest quality. Soap made from olive oil was considered the mildest and finest soap available during the colonial period. Our Bayberry Soap Bar Set includes triple-milled vegetable soap bars enriched with virgin olive oil, as they were in the 18th century.

Bayberry Soap
This soap is fantastic. The scent seems like it also has cloves. Long lasting bar and soft on the skin.

My family stayed at the Williamsburgh Inn in 1974 and I liked thebayberry soap. The soap that I recently bought does not really remind me of that scent, has the soap changed? Thanks anyway!

Bayberry Soap
My all time favorite. Nobody makes this anymore. Only places I could find it was the Wayside Inn in Massachusetts or The Vermont Country Store and they don’t carry it anymore.
