Product Description
Shaped by early American utility and the rhythms of daily life, this peg rail is part of Craft & Forge's Colonial Williamsburg Collection by Sunhouse Craft. It is designed to bring order and warmth to the entryway, mudroom, or hearth room through a form used in American homes for generations.
Made from solid hardwood and finished by hand, the rail-and-peg design is based on functional furnishings found in colonial houses—fixtures built to carry weight and withstand daily use. Each peg is shaped to comfortably hold coats, hats, and bags, making it a practical piece for busy households.
Rooted in historical examples but made for modern homes, this peg rail is meant to be installed and used every day. Over time, the wood will wear naturally, taking on character through use and becoming a familiar part of the home.

Inspiration
Before coat hangers, clothing was often hung on peg rails or folded and stored on shelves or in trunks. You can see the original peg rails that inspired the distinctive shape of the hooks on the Craft & Forge peg rack at the Tailor and Millinery shops in the Historic Area of Colonial Williamsburg.
