About 1770, William Henry, the Duke of Gloucester, commissioned a dinner service from the Royal Worcester company, which reflected his passionate interest in the natural world. The resulting pattern is an impressive manifestation of the rococo style, complete with 19 exuberant colors, 22 karat gold gilt feathering and a brilliant turquoise rim. It took over two years to complete the process of matching the vibrant colors and hand-painted feel of the antique.
