Product Description
Decorate the tree with a shimmering fabric rendition of the Governor's Palace, one of the Historic Area's most famous buildings. This fabric ornament is handmade using Zaridosi embroidery, a term that translates to "sewing with gold." A traditional South Asian embroidery technique once reserved for royalty, this technique today adorns luxurious fabric accents like this Governor's Palace ornament. The gold thread will sparkle on your tree the way the silks of colonial gentlewomen used to sparkle by the glow of candlelight in the Palace Ballroom. This fabric ornament is handmade by artisans in Thailand and India for the St. Nicolas ornament company, which supports women by helping them work from home. Imported.

Inspiration
At the time of its completion in 1722, the residence of Virginia's royal governor was considered one of the finest such buildings in British America. It was home to seven royal governors and the first two governors of the Commonwealth of Virginia, Patrick Henry and Thomas Jefferson. Just before Christmas in 1781, a fire broke out, destroying the magnificent building. The reconstructed building, authentically refurbished and interpreted, has welcomed visitors
