The fall season in the Historic Area of Colonial Williamsburg is a feast for the senses. As the air cools, a symphony of color begins, with bright orange, red, and gold leaves and berries adorning the trees and bushes. Late summer blooms continue into the fall, adding to the palette of autumn.
Our faux floral collections represent plants either grown in the gardens of Colonial Williamsburg or depicted in artwork or rare books that document their existence in colonial America. The 18th century was a period of great interest in the natural world, and floral and faunal subjects were of interest to both scientists and artists.
