Inspiration
The Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) saw an extraordinary period of innovation in ceramic manufacturing. Kilns investigated new design techniques and shapes, showing a fondness for color and painted designs, and an exploration of new forms. In addition to these decorative innovations, the late Ming period saw a dramatic shift towards a market economy, with porcelain exported around the world on an unprecedented scale. The kilns became the main production center for large-scale porcelain exports to Europe.
