Inspiration
In Market Square in the Historic Area of Colonial Williamsburg stands the Williamsburg Community Christmas Tree. The tree is lit while Colonial Williamsburg Fifes and Drums march down Duke of Gloucester Street; costumed interpreters and a crowd gather in Market Square to watch it all unfold. People of all ages bundle for warmth near cressets full of burning fatwood, and the story of Williamsburg's first Christmas tree is told.
