The pineapple was a rare and expensive fruit in the colonies, and symbolized the spirit of hospitality. As such, it was a popular and recurring design motif in eighteenth century decorative arts--and still the sign of hospitality today.
About the Artist
Marcia Long is a local Williamsburg artist. She holds an art degree from the Ohio State University and received botanical art training at the New York Botanical Garden, the Brookside Botanical Garden in Maryland, the Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Garden in Pittsburgh, the Ringling School of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida and has attended master classes in St. Michael Maryland, Filoli Gardens in Woodside, California and Falls Church, Virginia.

These cards are lovely!
These notecards are particularly lovely; I ordered two sets because I liked them so much.
There are only FOUR notecards in a cellophane package! Horribly overpriced and I bought two. Do not recommend!
