Inspiration
Birdhouses were probably quite popular in 18th-century Williamsburg. Fragments have been unearthed throughout the Historic Area, and a 1746 inventory and 1752 advertisement provide further evidence. Though it's tempting to attribute their use to enthusiasm for bird watching, bird bottles served a more practical purpose: nesting birds made ideal insect control around homes, kitchens, and stables.

An excellent classic product
We were glad to find one still available to replace one that fell apart after many years, relocations and many fledgings. Now housing our little voiciferous Carolina Wrens here on the OBX. It was well packaged and shipped promptly.

Terracotta bird house
Saw this bird house when we visited in person and didn't purchase it then. I am so glad it was available to order online. It is beautiful.

Love the quality and the beauty of these wren jars. They were carefully wrapped and shipped promptly. Wrens love them and have raised their young in them.

Ceramic Bird Bottle
Absolutely love the bird bottles and so do the small birds. I have 2 that I bought 20 years ago. They have had a lot of bird families living in them and they do last. They are also very pretty to look at on the side of our garage.

Bird Botttle.
Ordered this to replace one purchased on a trip to Williamsburg a few years ago. The old one lost its bird perch on cold weekend. I was very disappointed to see the was made in China. The ones in VA were made at the property. These were obviously sourced at the lowest cost possible, while charging a premium being associated w Williamsburg. I would not have purchased. Too much trouble to return. I’m sure they are fine.

Bird Bottles
Nice, but inferior to the appearance of the redware bottles when I worked for CW.

attractive, functional and fun
I have purchased one of these bird bottles for each of my 5 homes over the past 35 years with much enjoyment of watching songbirds move in and have their families. Now I purchase them for each of my children's homes and are appreciated just as much.

Ceramic bird bottle
This is a Christmas gift. We've had one of these for over 35 years. The wrens have nested in it many times and we've had the pleasure of watching them raise many Brooks. It is wonderful. They were all over buildings in colonial Williamsburg.
