Inspiration
Birdhouses were probably quite popular in 18th-century Williamsburg. Fragments have been unearthed throughout the Historic Area, and a 1746 inventory and 1752 advertisement provide further evidence. Though it's tempting to attribute their use to enthusiasm for bird watching, bird bottles served a more practical purpose: nesting birds made ideal insect control around homes, kitchens, and stables.

Wonderful gift!
I purchased this as a Christmas gift for a bird lover, and it was a hit! The bottle is a good size, it's well made and sturdy, plus it's simple to put up and can be removed easily if it needs to be cleaned out. Absolutely love this bird bottle!

Ceramic Bird Bottle
I have seen so many of these in Williamsburg. I passed it around my 5th grade classroom and asked the students if they could figure out what it was used for. The next day I had it mounted on the wal with a little next and a few birds. They love it and so do I. It reminds me of my time in Williamsburg.

Bird Bottle
We’ve had a bird bottle for several years and the birds use it. It’s nice to have birds nesting around the house. I ordered two more to give as gifts. They are the same high quality I had before. They were shipped promptly and arrived when promised.
