Inspiration
About 1770, William Henry, the Duke of Gloucester, commissioned a dinner service from the Royal Worcester company which reflected his passionate interest in the natural world. The resulting pattern is an impressive manifestation of rococo style, complete with 19 exuberant colors, gilt feathering and a brilliant turquoise rim. A platter from the original service, now in the collections of The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, served as the inspiration for this exquisite reproduction. It took over two years to complete the process of matching the vibrant colors and hand-painted feel of the original antique.
