Product Description
This fine fox ornament toasts to a Williamsburg-inspired Christmas season with an 18th-century style mug. An indispensable part of tavern life, stoneware mugs with cobalt blue designs were the usual vessels for beer and ale in the 18th-century. So many shards have been found at colonial tavern sites in Williamsburg that today the reconstructed taverns use locally-handmade versions to continue the custom. This beautifully detailed ornament is hand-painted on high-fired porcelain. Makes a wonderful holiday gift or addition to your tree-trimming collection.

Inspiration
This exquisitely detailed fox is similar to one from a 1771 edition of a book by 18th-century explorer and naturalist Mark Catesby. The Natural History of Carolina, Florida, and the Bahama Islands is a part of the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation collections. The book provides one of the most complete records of flora and fauna from colonial America.
